נָגַב(cmp. גַּב) (to have a crust,) to be dry. Ab. Zar.V, 3 (69a) כדי שישתום … ויִגּוֹב as much time as would be required for a person to bore a hole (uncork), and close it up, and (for the sealing clay) to get dry; ib. כדי שיפתח (את החבית) … ותִיגּוֹב to open the jug and close it up again, and (for the clay) to dry; a. e.Part. pass. נָגוּב; f. נְגוּבָה; pl. נְגוּבִים, נְגוּבִין; נְגוּבוֹת dry. Ḥag.III, 3 אוכלים נ׳ dry eatables (which have not come in contact with liquids and are, therefore, insusceptible of levitical uncleanness, v. חֶכְשֵׁר); Tosef. ib. III, 11. Ib. 12 וכי יש נגובים לקדש are the exemptions in favor of dry objects applicable to sacred matter?; Ḥag.24b וכי יש נגובהוכ׳ (Ms. M. נְגִיבָה).
